What Is Accreditation?
In 1994, regional accreditation organizations in the United States established the Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA), an international educational accreditation agency. CITA provided systems of accreditation around the world. In 2008, CITA was acquired by AdvancED. Since then, AdvancED has been dedicated to advancing excellence in education worldwide. The North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC), and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI) are accreditation divisions of AdvancED.
Al-Kon International School, known as Global International School (GIS), has so far been fully accredited three times: twice by CITA and once by NCA. The school is accredited to teach both the American system and the British system. Al-Kon is also an attached center to the British Council. Besides, it is a certified SAT test center and a certified IGCSE test center.
