Global International School’s Grading System is based on the following criteria:

Students should achieve a minimum average of 60% in main subjects, 65% in other subjects, and a total average of 60% in order to be promoted by the end of the year to a higher level.

How do you calculate a student’s total average?
1.  Multiply the subject average by the coefficient that appears in the column next to it.
2. Add the result of all subjects after multiplying them by their indicated coefficient.
3. Divide the sum by 8.25 to calculate the final average which usually occurs in the last row.

Example:

Subject
English
Math
Science
Arabic
Computer
French
Religion
Islamic studies
Social Studies
                                    +

The Cumulative Sum of all Averages       707.5

Total Average                                         707.5/ 8.75=80.85
Student Final Average                            80.85

French, Religion, and Islamic Studies each has a weight of 0.25. Such a procedure will help teachers evaluate students’ class work in the given subjects without affecting the student’s overall performance immensely when it comes to calculating the average.

Per the Ministry of Education Requirements students’ averages rely 60% on class work and 40% on term tests. This applies to Grades 7-12.

For all other grades students’ averages are based on the daily ongoing assessment as per our school’s rules and regulations.
